BRENNER, Fred W. of Saginaw, Michigan,
passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Shattuck Manor surrounded by his loving
family. He was 95 years old. Fred W. Brenner was born on June 7, 1915, in
Highland Park, to the late Frederick A. and Anna I. (Fitzpatrick) Brenner. He
married Marian J. Dailey on May 3, 1941 in Saginaw at Bishop MurphyÕs Residence
on Holland Ave; she survives him. ÒFred the EelÓ was an all city basketball
player in Detroit and part of the Southeastern High School City Championship
Team in 1933. Following high school, Fred attended Michigan State College on a
basketball scholarship, graduating in 1937 with a BachelorÕs in Business
Administration. He proudly served his country as a captain in the U.S. Army
during World War II from 1941 – 1945. Fred was employed as Vice President
of Sales with the Dailey Pickle Company, retiring in June of 1977. He was a
founding and current member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Fred was also a
past member of the Saginaw Country Club and the Germania Club. Throughout his
life, Fred was quoted as saying, ÒIÕve had the best life and family anyone
could ask for.Ó He was truly a patient and loving husband and a very proud
father. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shattuck Manor,
Visiting Angels and the many doctors, caregivers and friends that have helped
throughout the years.
Surviving besides his wife, Marian, of 69 years; four sons and three daughters: Fred Jr. (Helen Jo) Brenner, Michael (Sophia) Brenner, John Timothy (Cissy) Brenner, Kathy (Bill) Graham, Beth (Ron) LaRose, Joanie (Bill) Rosen, and Tom Brenner; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Bob and Jack Brenner.
FUNERAL: FredÕs Funeral Liturgy will take place at 3:00 p.m.on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. James G. Heller will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
