DOLLOFF, Carl C. of Saginaw, Michigan
passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2011 at Aleda
E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center with his wife and daughter at his side. He was 83 years old. Carl C. Dolloff
was born on March 6, 1928 in Crystal, Michigan to the late Donald and
Marguerite (Sampson) Dolloff. He was married to A. Ruth LaRose on September 20, 1947 in Ogdensburg, New York. She survives him.
Carl was a graduate of Alma High School. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps and was then assigned to their National Headquarters in Washington D.C. where he met the love of his life, A. Ruth LaRose. In 1951 he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Canton College of Technology in Canton, New York. Carl worked as an engineer for Projection Gauge in Rochester, N.Y., Bay City Shovels in Bay City, and Wilson Engineering in Saginaw. He retired from General Motors, Engineering Division at Saginaw Steering Gear, in 1989.
Carl was a member of the Bridgeport Gun Club and a lifetime member of the National Riffle Association. He was also a member and past president of Saginaw Underwater Explorers and a member of the U.S. Marine Retirees Club in Winter Haven, FL. Carl was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed fishing, sailing, scuba diving, and skiing. Carl especially treasured time spent with his wife traveling throughout North America.
Left to cherish CarlŐs memory are his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Linda Dolloff Busch of Naples, FL; his brother, Charles (Ann) Dolloff of Alma; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Dolloff and Donald Johnson Dolloff; two sisters: Bonnie (George) Kozler, Dorothy (Don) Clark; two brothers: Leland (Dorothy) Dolloff and Robert (Andrea) Dolloff.
FUNERAL: CarlŐs Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave. Rev. Fr. Thomas J. McNamara will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Roselawn Mausoleum. A Military Service will be conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post #439.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
