Wendland, Catherine (Morley)

Saginaw, Michigan

 

Died peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2008, with her family at her side.  Age 82 years.  Katy was born on September 27, 1925 in Bad Axe, MI, but soon moved to Saginaw where she spent her life.  She was a graduate of Saginaw High School and Colby Junior College.  On June 21, 1947, Katy married the late Jack Bruce Gudritz who passed away in 1962.  On April 14, 1966 she married Robert Wendland who survives her.

 

Katy was very active in many organizations in Saginaw.  She was a life member of the Saginaw Junior League and a past board member of Saginaw General Hospital.  Katy loved her tennis group, skiing at Otsego and her many dinners with friends.  She was an

avid reader and enjoyed discussing articles she would cut out of the newspapers.  She was happiest at her beloved family cottage at Higgins Lake and spending the winter months on Siesta Key.  Above all, Katy treasured family time with her children and grandchildren, collecting shells on the beach, passing time on the dock and gathering for holiday dinners.

 

Katy is survived by her husband, Robert; her three dearly loved children, Tom (Justine) Gudritz of Northville, MI, Pam (Mark) Westphal of Hartland, WI and John (Vicki) Gudritz of Traverse City, MI; two stepsons, Howard (Ellen) Wendland of Fort Myers, FL and Robert (Debbie) Wendland of Northville, MI; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her brother John (Sally) Morley of Cleveland Heights, OH.  Katy was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Moseley and Anne Zachman.

 

FUNERAL Ð Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State).  Randall Zachman and Thomas Moseley, KatyÕs nephews, will officiate.  Private interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

 

VISITATION Ð Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
