Our History
1888
Anton F. Deisler founded A. Deisler & Son Funeral Home at 521 Genesee Street in 1888, becoming the first funeral home in Saginaw County. This original location established the foundation for a family tradition of service that would span generations.

1895–1947
In 1895, the funeral home relocated to 707 Federal Avenue, where it served the Saginaw community for more than five decades. During this period, Anton’s son, Edward G. Deisler Sr., joined the business in 1890 and later became one of the first licensed morticians in the state in 1901 after receiving his degree from the Indiana College of Embalming.

1914
In 1914, A. Deisler & Son Funeral Home acquired a motor-driven hearse, reflecting the changing practices of the profession. Because the hearse was not immediately accepted by the public, horse-drawn hacks and coupes continued to be used alongside it.

1947–1968
In 1947, increasing downtown congestion prompted a move to 441 North Jefferson Street. Edward G. Deisler Jr. joined the family business in 1948, followed by his brother, Anton (Tony) Deisler, in 1950. Together, the brothers continued operating the funeral home in the City of Saginaw during a time of growth and transition.

1968–1989
In 1968, the funeral home was relocated to its present location at 2233 Hemmeter Road in Saginaw Township. Thomas J. Deisler, the fourth generation of the family, joined the business in 1980, became a licensed funeral director in 1982, and assumed ownership and management in 1989. The funeral home celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1988.

1989–Present
During his years of leadership, Tom expanded the funeral home’s role in the community by establishing a grief support program, mentoring future funeral directors, supporting local charities, and sponsoring numerous local Little League teams. Committed to keeping the funeral home family-run, Tom selected Mark and Andrea Fischer of Fischer Family Funeral Services in Saginaw to continue the Deisler family legacy of serving all people with dignity and respect, while embracing fresh ideas and new perspectives grounded in time-honored traditions.
