Obituary

Milburn, Ronald W. “Ron”

Kochville Township, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday morning, February 2, 2026, at his residence. He was 74 years old.

Ronald Walt Milburn was born September 5, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, to Clara Walt Milburn, and was lovingly raised by Fred and Florence Porterfield in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Jennifer Bowen on October 10, 1992, in Saginaw.

Ron proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was a police officer with the 308 Security Police Squadron. Following his honorable military service, he dedicated 32 years to law enforcement, including 25 years as a Federal Police Officer with the Department of Veterans Affairs Police in Saginaw. During his career, Ron served as a training officer. He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Police of Michigan. Ron retired following a lengthy illness.

Ron will be remembered for his love of shelter dogs, his enjoyment of going to the casino to play the slots, and his talent for finding the best bargain while shopping. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his wife and family.

Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Jennifer Milburn; five children, Jennifer Milburn, Ron Milburn Jr., Rosalyn Milburn, Amy (Chris) Rick, and Dan (Sara) Bowen; known as Grandpa Sunshine to his grandchildren, Isaac Milburn, Angelo Milburn, James Bowen, Mikenna Bowen, and Lincoln Rick; brothers-in-law, Stewart (Judy) Rood, Ralph (Judy) Rood, and Joseph (Jerrilyn) Rood; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Arlene Rood; and his sister-in-law, Julia (Dwayne) Garno.

The Milburn family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Laynes, MD, for the compassionate and dedicated care he provided to Ron over the years.

“To the Rood Family: I would like to thank the Rood family for accepting me into the family. It has been a great honor. I will truly miss all of you. I will give Grandma Rood a hug and kiss for all of you. I will pray for all of you and I know I will see you all again one day. I have no doubt in my mind. Most of all, I will miss my wife, Jennifer dearly. Don't forget me, because I won't forget you.

To all my children: I will truly miss you all, including my step-children. I pray you will watch over your mother. She is a very special lady. She will need all the help you can give her. I will truly miss those blue eyes and that warm heart. I pray that all of you seek the lord because he is coming. I don't want any of you left behind.” - Ron

In keeping with Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place; there will be a private memorial service at a later date.

Q: What was Ronald really good at? A: Finding a deal. I would see Ron at the grocery stores whether it was Meijer, Save-A-Lot, or any store and the basket of the amigo would be filled with his finds. But that not all..he would stop and talk to anyone he saw. Always a kind word and sometimes a complaint but he was a talker. Many prayers for Jenny and the Family.

Ron was always willing to help out in any way that he could. Many times I would be late leaving work. If he was on duty as a Police Officer, he would always offer to escort me to my car, ever the gentleman. I am so sorry for your loss Jenny. My sincere condolences to you and the family

I got the pleasure of meeting Ron over the phone several times shortly before his passing. I knew him through Roz, his beautiful daughter whom I am dating. I instantly felt connected with him through his bouts of humor and intellect, mixed together with his down to earth wisdom. He shall never be forgotten and is no longer in pain. My love and condolences to the family.

This is what a true “fighter” looks like. Dad used to love when I told him how “PROUD I was of him” I WAS… I AM… ALWAYS WILL BE..

While working at rite aid years ago I would have many conversations with this regular customer like he was an old friend that I hadn't seen in while. I never knew his name but he reminded me of a person that I lost when I was a teenager so a name didnt matter much to me i just enjoyed the company. Well then I find out that his daughter is my coworker and realize this is why she is so compassionate and caring. Thank you Ron for all of those random conversations and the laughs, Rest peacefully.
