Robert Alderton

Robert William Alderton, 80, of Saginaw, MI died on Sunday, May 11, 2025. “Bob” Alderton son of William and Ann (Yule) Alderton, loved husband of Janet Mae (Wulff) Alderton, father, hockey dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away in his home in Saginaw, MI. 

He is survived by his wife, Jan; and two children, Samuel Alderton and Anne (Brandon) Haubenstricker; beloved grandsons, Jaxon and Levi; brother, Del Alderton; sister, Dana (Mike) Williams; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve Wulff and Jim (Kathy) Wulff; nieces and nephews: Lisa (Adam) Boge, David (Erica) Wulff, Matthew (Renee) Wulff, Max (Rob) Williams and Kelly (Emma) Williams.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Alderton; sisters-in-law, Kris Alderton and Patty Alderton.

Bob had a gift for forming lasting relationships with everyone he met. With a lifelong passion for retail, he dedicated his career to Edward's Men's Shop, Garber Buick, and Hudson's/Marshall Fields. Known for his quick wit and love of people, Bob was always ready with a joke—good or groan-worthy—to bring a smile to those around him.

He treasured his Thursday lunches with friends, and was deeply passionate about golf, the MSU Spartans, and proudly sharing stories about his children. His beloved grandsons brought him immense joy, especially during the more challenging moments of his health journey.

An avid golfer, Bob was a longtime member of Maple Hill Golf Club, where he served on the board of directors and as club president until its closing. He later joined Apple Mountain Golf Club. Bob was also a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church, where his faith remained a steady source of strength.

Thanks to the compassionate care provided by his “special angels,” Christine and LeeAnn from Heartland Hospice, Bob was able to pass peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

GATHERING: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603 on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.; and on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

SERVICE: A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Matt Hauser will officiate.
