Prueter, Frances Margaret

Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at her home where her family lived for 68 years. She was 101 years old. Frances Margaret Pickelmann was born on August 12, 1923 in Saginaw to Ernest and Selma (Ranke) Pickelmann. On Sunday, June 14, 1942 Fran married Kenneth L. Prueter and they enjoyed 64 years before his passing on January 5, 2007.

Fran is survived by her two sons, Bill and Bob; several nieces and nephews

Fran was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken; and sisters: Marion Foerster and Lois Fiebig; brother, Norman Pickelmann.

Whether at her home in Saginaw or at the family cottage in East Tawas, Fran always said she was so fortunate to have the best friends and neighbors over the years. Special friends included Ramiro and Angie Torrez, Helen Domson, Barb Loessel, Yvonne Beeg, Carl and Christine Huebner and Peg Olsen. Fran went to Attractions Salon weekly for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed each visit with the girls, especially Connie Bender who did her hair. She loved Connie and we consider her family. Every one at Attractions was so good to her.

Fran enjoyed baking and making meals for her family and friends. Many holiday meals, birthdays and parties were had at her house. She enjoyed working in her yard into her late 90's. She worked at Lufkin Rule Company until it closed in Saginaw in 1968.

Fran had a strong Christian faith beginning as a child. Fran attended Trinity Lutheran Church where she also attended school through the 8th grade. After her marriage to Ken, Fran attended St. Mark's Church and Countryside Trinity Church. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Frances will be laid to rest next to her husband at Chapel Hill Mausoleum, Freeland. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a later date.

She was my neighbor for 56 years and I couldn't ask for a better neighbor. We had some very good memories together and her husband Ken and my husband Paul were best of friends and would sit outside for hours talking. I will miss Fran so much, but now she is with Ken and her parents in heaven, where she belongs. She was a very compassionate child person and enjoyed life to the fullest. R.I.P.Fran. love you as a neighbor and a person. My sympathy to Bob and Bill who was the best caretakers in the world to their mom.

It's heartbreaking to know that I will never again on earth hear this beautiful soul tell a story, recall times past, and laugh so easily. The Prueters were the best neighbors ever, and we so blessed to know that for many years they were just a couple houses away. She was so loved and cared for by her husband, Ken, and her devoted sons, Bill and Bob. Oh, how I cherish those years! Fran baking her German specialties, frying perch, preparing smelt, fluffing the mulch in her cottage garden, sitting around the umbrella table on her front or back patio, sitting by her lovely Christmas tree...the memories go on and on. So until we meet again in the sweet by and by, I bid you goodbye. Peace and love to Bill and Bob. This is a beautiful photo of your Mom and a wonderful obituary! She would be so pleased!

Q: How did you meet Frances? A: I met Francis and her son Bob, through Visiting Angels, I got to help her and I always enjoyed talking with her and her history with her family. She loved it when I would paint her nails. You will be missed Francis. ❤️

We will miss Fran. Curtis remembers going with Helen to see her multiple times when he was younger. She was a great person.
