Passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Traditions of Saginaw. He was 92 years old. George William Baumann Jr. was born on June 6, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan to George and Mabelle (Beam) Baumann. He married the love of his life Yvonne M. Petre on February 12, 1955. They celebrated 64 wonderful years together before Yvonne's death on February 25, 2019. George served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed by General Motors Central Foundry Division as an Electrical Engineer, retiring in 1992 after 34 years of dedicated service. George was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Saginaw and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Rose City, MI.

He was a skilled hunter, passing his knowledge along to his children and grandchildren. George enjoyed fishing and traveling. George also enjoyed woodworking, carving, and attending retiree breakfast gatherings. He was an avid reader and loved making all types of wine. George will be remembered for his sense of humor. But, above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his children, Bruce William Baumann, Bonnie Sue (Dave) Skornia, and Brent George Baumann (deceased). Bonnie and Dave added, Adam (Emma) Skornia with Lilian and Owen, Eric Skornia, Caitlyn (Conner) Schultz with Everlee and Lainey. Brent (deceased) provided Dustin (Rachael) Sinkes with Jaden Sinkes to the mix. One sister in-law Linda (Walter) Skrocki. Significant other, Helen Marie Herzberg. Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In keeping with George's wishes cremation has taken place. The Baumann family is planning to hold a memorial service in the spring.
