Moody, Richard F. “Dick”

Saginaw, Michigan

Born on January 20, 1932 to the late Richard and Victorine (Rapin) Moody and passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025. He was 92 years old, just 3 and ½ hours short of his 93rd birthday.

Dick married the love of his life, Jackie Hegenauer on November 7, 1953, and she survives him. Together they were blessed with their children: Rick (Kathy), the late Shelly Abbott and Mike (Lisa).

After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Saginaw, he attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, where he met Jackie. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Over the years, Dick was employed at St. Mary's Hospital, Interlake Management, Bulk Foods Warehouse and St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas.

He was involved in the Jaycees and Knights of Columbus Council #4232 and was a faithful member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

A lover of the great outdoors, Dick was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. For forty plus years he and Jackie would escape to Fish Camp on the Betsie River in Benzonia.

Besides his wife, Jackie; Dick leaves his children: Rick (Kathy) and Mike (Lisa); grandchildren: Ric (Krista), Jen (Chuck), Trisha (Dan), Mallory (Nicholas) and Isabel; 12 great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends and his furry companion, Barney.

Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelly Abbott; granddaughter, Ashley Abbott who passed away at birth; sister, Margaret (Jack) Christian; brother, George (Neva) Moody.

FUNERAL: In keeping with Dick's wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral liturgy for Dick will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Christian F. Tabares will officiate.

VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Moody’s passing. He was a great man and a great mentor to many. He was kind and always willing to give the benefit of doubt to those around him. I enjoyed the many years I have known both Mr. & Mrs Moody. He was one of the best bosses I’ve had. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers. He will be missed by many.
