William John Granger

February 26, 1936 – December 17, 2024

William John Granger, from Marysville, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at his home. He was 88 years old. Born on February 26, 1936 in Saginaw to the late William and Caroline (Swartzly) Granger, William led a life dedicated to his family and his profession.

William John Granger served as a pharmacist for an impressive 52 years. His career began at Cunningham Drugs in Monroe, Michigan, after which he relocated to Port Huron, Michigan, and finally to Bay City, Michigan. He then partnered with his father at Granger and Nitz Pharmacy in Saginaw, Michigan, where he eventually became the sole proprietor for 12 years. William concluded his illustrious career at the VA Hospital in Saginaw as the head of the pharmacy department.

Before his pharmacy career, William completed six years of service in the Army National Guard at Camp Grayling. His commitment to his country was a testament to his character and dedication.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine Granger; his son, William, and daughter-in-law, Renee Granger; and his cherished grandchild, Chelsea Granger. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Eli Granger and Caroline Granger; his daughter, Beverly Granger; and his sisters, Doris (Ray) Oehring and Elanie (Ed) Wheatley.

A Funeral Mass for William will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street, Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate, with cremation to follow the funeral Mass.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass.

Q: What will you miss most about William? A: We will never forget William’s smile and cheerful personality! He is the father of Bill and Renee Granger, our friends and neighbor in the Woodlands in Portage, Mi. We are in Connecticut but your family is in our hearts and prayers!
