Our father, brother, uncle, cousin, and dear friend passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 80 years old. Andrew Norman Bennett was born on April 6, 1944 in Saginaw, MI to the late Andrew P. and Geneva J. (Scherzer) Bennett. Andrew graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1962. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War in Germany. Andy married Elizabeth A. (Ott) Tubb on September 27, 1986, at the Little Stone Chapel on Mackinaw Island, she preceded him in death December 27, 2023. Andy worked for General Motors – Steering Gear for over 25 years. He was a train hobbyist, loved collecting die cast cars and watching NASCAR. Andy and Liz loved to take day trips throughout Michigan following the path of Under the Radar.
Andy is survived by his son, Dale Bennett; grandchildren: Dustin and Julia Bennett; sisters: Lynda Ortman, (Saginaw), Susan Bennett, (Saginaw); nieces: Ann (Patrick) Russell and Kimberly (Sean) Haller; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lawrence W. Ott (Mary Jo), Jenison, MI, Denis P. Ott, (Donna) Canton, OH, Mark DeWolf-Ott (Joyce) Saginaw, MI, Donna Ott, Saginaw, MI; many loved nieces and nephews.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Ortman and his beloved dogs: Sailor, Tang and Max.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service for Andy will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. Private interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
