Our much loved sister and aunt, Theresa Marker Markva, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. She was 87 years old. Theresa E. Marker was born on May 27, 1937, to the late Max and Anna Marker. She married the love of her life, R. Michael Markva on February 25, 1967, in Saginaw; he preceded her in death on December 28, 2017.
Theresa's family enjoyed spending time with her and listening to her many stories of life on the farm. Theresa was known to her friends as “Teri” and she enjoyed playing board games, but she especially loved the game of Euchre, often playing at the Senior Center and Moose Club. We have cherished the time we had with her. Theresa was a very elegant lady with a smile and an ever helpful and incredibly generous nature.
She is survived by her sister, Delores Ferworn of Pennsylvania; three sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews which include her two special angels, Diane Proulx Neuenfeldt and Kim Proulx Weigl; several great nieces and great nephews; many near and dear friends who continued to keep in touch, including Royce, Vicki and Jerry.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, R. Butch Markva; brothers: Max, Nicholas, Mike, Joseph, Pete, Karl and John Marker; sisters: Annie Saunderson, Eva Proulx, Elizabeth Guzinski and Marion Marker.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Steve Gavit will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service, and her cremated remains will be placed next to her husband, Butch, at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
