Dork, Stephen J. “Steve”

Saginaw, Michigan

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and dear friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in his backyard after his daily walk with his faithful dog Jesse. He was 77 years old. Stephen John Dork was born on September 16, 1946 in Saginaw to the late Chester A. and Elinor (Gaertner) Dork. Steve graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1964. He proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, being stationed in the Upper Peninsula. Steve married the love of his life, Pamela Rohrkemper, on September 28, 1968 and together they spent nearly 56 wonderful years. As a hardworking, dedicated machinist, Steve spent 33 years at General Motors, retiring in 2004. In retirement Steve worked part time for Great Lakes Bay Health Centers for 15 years. He loved sailing and boating, spending time with his family and faithfully walking his dogs.

Steve will be dearly missed by his family, his wife, Pam; children: Christopher S. Dork, Mary Roberts and Michael Dork and his wife, Penny Gotham; grandchildren: Camille and Ethan Ostrander, Marley and Livia Gotham; niece, Melinda Rhodes; and his dog, Jesse.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald C. Dork; and nephews: Craig and Chad Dork.

SERVICE: A service to celebrate Steve's life will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to American Heart Association or Gift of Life Michigan.

I am Pam's cousin and visited Steve and Pam a month ago in mid July. I have known Steve since they were married. He has always been a gentle soul. While I was there I noticed him taking care of household chores in a manner that seemed a daily routine for him. I was very impressed with that and commented to Steve how helpful that must be for Pam. He told me that :"I just want Pam to be happy " That really touched my heart. Things like that, plus much more is a testament to their love for each other. Steve will be greatly missed
