Gulliver, Bruce A.

Saginaw, Michigan

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. He was 82 years old. Bruce Alan Gulliver was born on July 6, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Lemuel and Dora (Richardson) Gulliver. He married Janice Beechler in February of 1966; she preceded him in death in 1973. Bruce then married Ruth A. Krentz on September 30, 1978 at Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church in Saginaw. Bruce was employed by General Motors as a Pattern Maker, retiring in 2004 after 40 years of service. He was an active member with the Gideons from 1996 until present and enjoyed passing out Bibles to others.

Bruce loved animals, especially his dogs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. Bruce also enjoyed traveling to Alaska with his children. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving is his wife, Ruth Gulliver; children, Brian Alan Gulliver and Amy (Jeffrey) Wharton; grandchildren, Daniel (Noelle) Wharton, Janice (Sam) Greer, and Anna Wharton; one great grandson, James Greer, and his nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his brother Dale L. Gulliver and his sister, Ruth (Ronald) Smith.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Pastor Charlene Washington will officiate.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, May 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m.

MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Gideons or the charity of your choice.

Ruth, Brian and family, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Bruce was passionate and faithful about his service for the Gideons. Thru his efforts, I feel certain many came to know the Lord. I will fondly remember singing with him in the choir at Ames United Methodist Church. May he rest in eternal peace

Fond memories ..as a teenager playing euchre with he and his father in the mid-nineteen fifties. We could seldom beat his Dad during a required fast paced game. Bruce helping with the building of a wooden boat covered with fiberglass, and skiing behind it's outboard engine, all of 16 horse power (you were lucky to even get up on the skis). This occurred at their Au Gres beach home. We also netted some smelt there too. I could relate to many more happy times, but they will never be lost in my mind. We always got along with each other. He was a special friend and will truly be missed. I believe he has a place in heaven. Sincerely......David Schroeder
