Joan Abbott

Joan E. Abbott, age 90, passed away peacefully Friday, November 10, 2023 at Wellsprings Assisted Living in Saginaw, MI. Joan was born August 2, 1933 in Saginaw, MI the daughter of Hazen and Mary (McKenna) Kenny. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1952. Joan was united in marriage to Michael G. Abbott on March 2, 1957; he preceded her in death on January 29, 2009.

Joan was a long-time member of Christ the Good Shepherd, formerly known as St. Helen Catholic Church. She enjoyed tap dancing, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. But most of all, Joan loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them; especially her grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her three children; Michael J. (Patricia) Abbott, Catherine Abbott and Carrie (Gary) Munroe, seven grandchildren; Jaime Charkowske (Jason Pawlak), Katie (Ezra) Short, Kelly (Andru) Allen, Sara (John) Swiecicki, Megan, Alex and Mollie Munroe, great-grandchildren Vincent, Theo and Henry; and a sister; Anne Day. Besides her husband Michael, Joan was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Kenny.

Joan's family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Covenant VNA Hospice; especially Brie and the aids at Wellsprings Assisted Living; especially Violet for the wonderful care given to their mother.

FUNERAL: Private funeral services have taken place for Joan and interment was in St. Andrews Cemetery.
