Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and aunt entered into eternal life with her family by her side on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, she was 94 years old. Carmen Frias was born on July 16, 1929 in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Enrique and Cruz (Frias) Mata. She married Juan Acosta Mata on September 16, 1952 in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico who preceded her in death on January 5, 2002. Carmen was also preceded in death by a son, Antonio Mata and by two sisters, Juana Aguirre and Elena Frias.

Carmen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw for many years and loved watching the Eternal World Network and praying the Rosary every day. She also enjoyed watching her telenovelas. Most of all, Carmen cherished spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, Juan F. (Evangelina) Mata, Rosa Mata Rodriguez, Veronica (Henry Celestino) Mata, Angelina (Guillermo) Garza, Lucia (Augustine) Martinez Jr., and Gregorio Mata; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren; a sister, Antonia Duran and many nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris OFM Cap will officiate. A Committal service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Saginaw.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601 on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
