Obituary

Mary Lee Orozco, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandma, sister, and aunt passed away Thursday evening, April 20,2023 at the age of 90. She was born in Texas, daughter of the late Alfredo and Josephine (Rodriguez) Sepulveda. Mary moved to Saginaw with her family when she was 10 years old. She eventually went to work for General Motors retiring after 15 years. Mary met Florencio Orozco and the two were married December 15, 1947 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death July 18, 1992. Mary was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she attended since she was a child. She enjoyed dancing and was the director for Ballet Cultura Azteca for many years. Mary also enjoyed playing cards when she was younger and going to the casino. She loved to travel and especially liked going up north and south to Mexico. More than anything, Mary loved her family. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she cherished the time she spent with them all.

Mary is survived by her children, John (Gloria) Orozco and Linda Banda; grandchildren, John (Kathy) Orozco, Omar (Judy) Orozco, Venus Garcia, and Michelle Banda; nine great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; brother, Anatalio “Natie” Sepulveda; in-laws, Conception (Lucy) Orozco, Mary (Gilbert) Castaneda, Margaret (Lazaro) Olvera, Mary Helen Torres, Conception Heredia, Cruz Juanita (Robert) Jimenez, and Richard (Patricia) Orozco; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Cecelia Orozco; sisters, Carmen Olvera, Amby, Lily Gonzales, and her twin sister Mary Ocampo; and brother Paul Sepulveda.

SERVICE: A Memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 North Sixth Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Fr. Frank Voris O.F.M. Cap. will officiate.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.

My deepest condolences to John and Linda. Your mom was a beautiful person and loved very much. You both were blessed to have had such adoring parents. Now I can see all of them playing card's in heaven, My parents, Mr. Mrs. Rico, Ruben and Mary Mr. Mrs. Llamas. Omg what a gathering it will be. Q: How did you meet Mary? A: I met Mary Lee when we were 7 years old along with her twin sister Mary. They would go to her sister Lilly’s house to spend the night that is how we meet. We became life long friends. I loved how generous she was towards me. She was funny and fun to be around. We would laugh for hours talking. Although as we aged and I moved away from Saginaw we lost touch. However, she never left my heart or my memories. I remember them fondly. May she rest in peace and be reunited with those she loves who have gone before her. I loved both of them dearly Mary and Mary Lee. Good bless them and their family.

I am flooded with so many colorful memories of dance practices, dress rehearsals, and everything I ever learned or wanted to know about the art of Mexican folkloric dance. La maestra, Mary Lee, was a no-nonsense kind of gal. I valued her passion for the art of dance. Although there were some intense and disciplined practice sessions and rehearsals, as an adult, I now understand "why". I don't know that I ever had the opportunity to thank her for all that I learned. John and Linda- thank you for sharing your talented mother with me and so many others in the Saginaw community. Tina Yanez and Betsy Enciso are there to welcome your mother with a beautiful dance. God bless you and the Orozco and Banda family.
