Our Frankie passed away on February 14, 2023. He was 63 years old. Craig Patrick Nichols was born on June 12, 1959 in Bay City to the late Ron F. and Esther P. (Dennis) Nichols. He graduated from John Glenn High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. After leaving the Marines he returned to Bay City to be close to his family, including his grandparents, Fritz and Nettie (Younker) Nichols, who meant the world to him. Craig joined Iron Workers Local #25, working throughout Michigan and neighboring states. Craig met the love of his life, Sherry L. Duffy, in 1992. They were married on April 12, 2005. Craig had a wonderfully close relationship with his step-mother, Barbara A. (Dubay) Nichols. When David B. Doan met Barbara he became very close to Craig also. When Barb and David were later married Craig would proudly call them Ma and Pa. Many family evenings and memories will forever be cherished including camping, fishing trips, motorcycle trips and adventures across the country.
Craig is survived by his wife, Sherry (Duffy) Nichols; ma, Barbara (Dubay) Nichols-Doan; his son, Michael (Brandy) Nichols; grandsons: Bradyn and Alexander; step-daughter, Samantha (Chris Kortz) Martin; step-grandchildren: Faith (Tim Price) Forbes and Tristin Aikens; sister, Carol (Arnie) Mackezyk; niece, Denise Cerva; nephew, Brian (Carol) Mackezyk; great nieces: Stephanie Consbruck, Kelsi Richardson, Lauren and Ashley Mackezyk and great nephew, Cameron Mackezyk; great-great nieces, Luna and Winter Richardson; great-great nephew, Nicholas Consbruck; many extended family and dear friends.
Craig was preceded in death by his grandparents: Fritz and Nettie; parents: Ron and Esther; and pa, David Doan.
In keeping with Craig's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held later this year. Arrangements have been entrusted to Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd.
