Hoffman, William W. “Bill”

Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away on Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. He was 71 years old. William Walter Hoffman was born on July 25, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Chester and Grace (Wager) Hoffman. He married Nancy J. Lewis on January 6, 1973. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2016. Bill was employed by the Aleda E. Lutz Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist, retiring in 2013 after several years of service. Bill was a member of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and St. John's Lutheran Church on Brockway for many years.

Bill loved fishing. He also enjoyed camping. But, what Bill really loved most was spending time with his family.

Surviving are one son, Matthew (Dawn) Hoffman; five grandchildren, Brenden, Jakeb, Alerie, Joseph, and Dorothy; two sisters, Mary (Ed) Allum and Patti Chapman, and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery “Jeff” Hoffman; one brother, Ron Hoffman Sr.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: In keeping with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2023 at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4705 Brockway Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Andy Retberg will officiate.

I met Bill just a few times and I know he and his wife did a great job raising his son Matthew, my friend. I know Bill only because of the few visit he made to the outdoors at my northern hunting camp. He seemed to really enjoy the outdoors and when younger also some hunting which Matt and his son Jakbe also enjoy along with me and my son Aran. Matt would mention his dad from time to time and always with admiration. Their relationship must have been great. But time brings changes and this, for Bill, is one we all will someday share.
