Turek, Maxine Augusta Fredericka

Saginaw, Michigan

Our beloved cousin passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at New Hope Valley Assisted Living in Saginaw. She was 99 years old. Maxine Augusta Fredericka Gernenz was born on January 15, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Adolph and Helen (Meyer) Gernenz. She Graduated from Arthur Hill in 1941. She married Edward “Milton” Turek in 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan. Maxine was employed by Lawyer's Title Insurance Corporation as a clerk, retiring 1993 after many years of service. Maxine affectionately referred to herself as fat and sassy.

Maxine was an avid reader. She also enjoyed collecting cookbooks, shopping, traveling, and knitting. But, what Maxine really loved most was spending time with her family.

Surviving are her cousins, Melvin (Patricia) Muehlenbeck, Denny Meyer, and Brent Muehlenbeck.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Milton” Turek.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Rev. John W. Soyster will officiate. Committal service to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.

MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Peace Lutheran Church.

How do I live in this world without my best friend and second mother? I know, I can hear you say I’m a tough cookie, just like you. I miss you so very much already, and I thank our good Lord for the gift of you! Oh how we laughed, cried and talked for hours. Instead of a tree or flowers to honor you, I wish I could have a sandwich at Zehnder’s in Frankenmuth named after you Max! That would be perfect. I love you, forever and a day.
