Pack, Donald F. “Don”

Saginaw, Michigan

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 21, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old. Donald F. Pack was born on January 14, 1945 in Saginaw to the late Albert and Marguerite (Pack) Bollenbacher. He married Arlene M. Obrecht on December 10, 1982 in Saginaw, and she survives him. Don worked with BAC Union Local #9 for 40 years in the Terrazzo and Tile industry. During his retirement years, he liked to buy and resell many different items. He proudly was known as “The Boatman” and “Dealing Don”. During the winter he ran his plow truck, helping friends and neighbors. Don was often found tinkering in his garage, enjoying a good prank, and a great game of poker. His great joy came from spending time with family, friends and his pets.

Don is survived by his wife, Arlene; children from his first marriage: Karen (Jim) Bedell, Rick Pack and Mary (Brad) Navarro; grandchildren: Zach Bedell, Tony and Peyton Pack, Trey, Madison and Kylie Navarro; great-granddaughter, Kinsley; step-children: Heidi Westendorf and Dirk (Krystal) Westendorf; step-grandchildren: Brianne and Gavin Westendorf; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Albert Pack; mother, Marguerite Pack Bollenbacher; step-father: Pete Bollenbacher; son, Christopher Pack; brothers: Frank Pack and Albert “Junior” Pack.

SERVICE: A funeral service for Don will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Michael Korte will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.; visitation will continue on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.

We have fun memories of your visits to Aunt Juila and Uncle Carl and then Mom at the well loved little house on Mackinaw. Wow, what a reunion they are all having in heaven this week. “THE TRAIN: At birth, we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel by our side. As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant - our siblings, friends, children, strangers, and even the love of your life. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. Others will step down over time and leave a permanent vacuum. Some, however, will go so unnoticed that we don't realize they vacated their seats. This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves. The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty, we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life. More importantly, thank you for the journey! Lastly, I want to thank you for being one of the passengers on my train! — Mike Schneider
