Guerin, Donald J. “Buzz”

Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 84 years old. Donald Joseph Guerin was born on May 18, 1938 in Saginaw to the late Joseph H. and Dorothy (Size) Guerin. He married Saundra J. Ciszechy on June 31, 1978, and she preceded him in death on February 25, 2000. Buzz proudly served his country with the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1961, after completing a tour in France.

Buzz was employed by the Grey Iron Foundry, where he began as a blueprint operator in the plant engineering department plant and advanced to the position of project mechanical engineer at the time of his retirement. After his retirement from Grey Iron, Buzz was employed as project mechanical engineer for William A. Kibbe & Associates in Saginaw.

Buzz was an incredibly talented wood carver and he also enjoyed other wood working projects. He enjoyed drawing, building models, and reading. Buzz also enjoyed fishing and golf. He was an avid pool player, and the most recent addition to his home was a pool room, where he spent many evenings enjoying the company of family and friends.

Buzz is survived by his children: Eric (Colette) Guerin of Vicksburg, Michigan, Carol Wargo of Punta Gorda, Florida and Cheryl Pfeifer of Ocala, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Carol Boensch of Saginaw, Susan Kern of Frankenmuth, and Marijo Colon (Ross) of Lake City, Michigan. Also surviving are many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.

Buzz was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Saundra; his first wife, Rosalie M. (Mortimore) Jacobson; brothers Edward Guerin and Gary Guerin.

In keeping with Buzz's wishes, cremation has taken place. His family will gather privately to celebrate his life and have committal prayers at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
