James L. Vacik Jr.

Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on October 24, 2022 at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw. He was 90 years old. James Laurence Vacik Jr. was born on June 6, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late James and Anna (Spousta) Vacik. He married Frances J. Cajka on October 9, 1954 in Swartz Creek, Michigan. Jim was a homebuilder and remodeler in the Saginaw area for over 40 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the CSA, Knights of Columbus, and past member of the Homebuilders Association of Saginaw. Jim was also a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for many years.

Jim loved people and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He loved Czech music and making music on the accordion. He had a polka band for over 40 years, playing the accordion at weddings, dances, and parties. He enjoyed golfing, ice and perch fishing, hunting, going to deer camp and taking trips to the casino in Mt. Pleasant.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Frances Vacik; children, Dennis (Diane) Vacik of Saginaw, and Shelley (Ken) McGeathy of Hemlock; grandchildren, Helen Vacik and fiancé Nicholas Woodhull of Sterling Heights, Joe Vacik of Tiffin, Ohio, Anne (Mat) Bard of Swartz Creek, and Daniel (Samantha) McGeathy of Hemlock; great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Olivia Bard of Swartz Creek; sisters in-law, Arlene O'Brien, Judie Spitz and Joan Vacik; niece, Carol Mayer and nephew, Karl Vacik.

Jim was preceded in death by his twin brothers, Lawrence and Clarence Vacik; in-laws, Joseph and Frances (Ivan) Cajka.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Deacon Gary Patelski will officiate.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Emmaus House of Saginaw.

I had the pleasure of knowing jimmy for many years. He was a great man. I had a route that ended in saginaw not far from his home and i would stop over every few week to have a beer and swap stories. It was always a good time He will be greatly missed

Dear Francie, Shelley, Denny and families, I am so sorry that I am unable to make it to Jim's funeral service today. My deepest condolences for your loss of such a special man. I have so many fond memories of him over the years from the time I was a little girl...his soft-spoken manner, the twinkle in his eyes, the hugs; and of course, a kiss on the cheek. I can only imagine the reunion in Heaven with his entire family and how joyous that occasion must have been. May the memories of happier times fill your hearts and keep him forever close.
