Wehner, Wesley R. “Wes”Saginaw, MichiganOur beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Covenant Medical Center – Cooper, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old. Wesley Richard Wehner was born on March 22, 1936 in Saginaw to the late Emma (Garno) and Ralph Wehner. He graduated from Saginaw High School, graduating in 1954. Wes worked for Clark's Drug Store as a teenager and then became interested in Pharmacy work. He married, Joyce Ann Provost, and together they had three children, Harold, Dale and Wesley Todd. Wes furthered his education at Delta College and became a Pharmacy Technician. He worked for Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital, Tolfree Memorial Hospital in West Branch and then retired from the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center in 1999. He met, Kathleen M. (Lackey) Izzo, while working at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital. They were married on September 24, 1983, and she survives him. Wes was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed being outdoors, and collecting State Park patches. He loved to travel with Kathy and visiting the casinos. He was also a lifelong member of the Saginaw Moose Lodge #82, achieving the Pilgrim Degree.Wes' generous, kind and caring spirit will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathy; children: Harold (Sheila) Wehner, Dale (Stacy) Wehner, Wesley Todd (fiancé, Patty Wallace) Wehner, Michelle (Steve) Duncan, Yvonne Izzo and Rick (Julie) Izzo; grandchildren: Jake, Nick, Michael (Candace), Kaitlynn, Ashlynn, Samantha (Cory), Wesley Allen, Stephen, Aaron, Tailah, Meghan and Grace; six great grandchildren; sisters: Sandra Hozeska, Judy (Bill) Pierotti, Kay (Larry) Whyte.Wes was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Stanley, Robert, Charles and Donald Wehner; sister, Carol Jean Wehner; and brother-in-law, Don Hozeska.SERVICE: In keeping with Wes' wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Rd, Saginaw, MI 48638. Rev. Paul Biber will officiate. Family and friends will gather at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or the Saginaw County Rescue Mission. When you married my mom, you stepped into fill a huge void that was left when my father passed away. You were ALWAYS there for us no matter what the situation happened to be. You were my step-father, but there was no "step" because your kids and us 3 were just that. Your kids! No step needed. Never did I doubt you were the best thing to happen to my mom. My "bonus dad" as it is referred to completely fits you because you weren't my step-father, you were my dad. I will miss you terribly, but know the pain you suffered these last few years is now gone. Rest In Peace dad. I will always love you and hold a special place in my heart for you.

I am so sorry for your loss, Kathy. I remember all of the stories about the good times and travel you had with Wes. It was so long ago that we worked together--you must have even more good stories. I hope you can think of all those stories when days are tough. Everyone around you knew how special Wes was to you. I am thinking of you and your family at this difficult time.
