Marcos Benavides

Marcos Castillo Benavides, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, surrounded by his family in Saginaw, Michigan.He was born on November 22, 1940 in Welch, Texas to Ramon and Celia Castillo Benavides. Marcos attended Portland High School when he was 16 years of age, while living with his Uncle Casimiro Perez.In 1958 he met the love of his life Lilly Sauceda and were united in marriage. Marcos began working as a GM production worker in 1972 and throughout his years he was promoted to various skilled trade positions. He was given many awards for engineering suggestions, thereafter working 30 years he the retired in 2002. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lilly Benavides, his children Beverly Benavides Antal, Alvin Benavides (Monica), Patricia Hitts, (Fred), David Benavides (Lola), Carolynn Benavides (David), 14 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren, siblings, Maria Alvarado, Rudy (Gean) Benavides, Gus (Esperanza) Benavides Joe (Ernestine) Benavides Carlos (Maryann) Benavides,Frankie Benavides, Raymond Benavides,Sally Benavides, Roy Benavides, Martha (Michael) Reyes, Henry (Patricia) Benavides and many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his brothers Louis and Pete Benavides, sister Juanita Benavides, 3 sister in-laws Ida, Jean, Maryann Benavides, niece Wymia, and granddaughter Mia Jackson.VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road, (off State St.), on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.FUNERAL SERVICE: A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. August 4, 2022 at St. Francis of Assis (St. Anthony of Padua), 3680 South Washington Avenue, Rev Father Alberto Vargas will officiate committal service to follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery.
