McAuley, Gary L.Merrill, MichiganOur beloved son, nephew, husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022 at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland. He was 72 years old. Gary Lynn McAuley was born on July 5, 1949 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late William and Bethel (Bird) McAuley. Gary proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Gary met Lynnette M. Wallace in Saginaw in June of 1977, they quickly fell in love and were married on November 2, 1977. He worked for General Motors and the City of Saginaw. Gary also enjoyed the art of cooking and worked for The Palace of Auburn Hills and Peabodys. Gary loved to fish, ride his Harley Davison, classic cars, spending time outside, listening to music and making memories with his family.Gary's fun sense of humor will be deeply missed by his wife, Lynnette; daughters: Becky Lynn Macias and Stacey Ann McAuley; grandchildren: Brittany (Mario) Schneller, Gabriel Macias, Yesenia Macias, Nichole Wenzel and Haley Jerome; great grand-daughter, Alexandria Schneller; mother-in-law, Barbara Yelle; sister-in-law, Julie Wallace and many nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends and pets.Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Kimberly Anne McAuley; brother, Wayne McAuley; and uncle, Robert Bird; grandmother, Gladys Bird and father-in-law, Tim Wallace.In accordance with Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Gary will be held at a later date.MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the Saginaw County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. I knew Gary since 1969 and spent many of my younger years having good times with Gary. He was always quick to tease and laugh whether it be about him or someone else. I loved his sense of humor and the true friendship he showed me. He will always have a special place within me. I am truly saddened by his passing and yet thinking of our friendship brings a smile to my face.
