Quaal, Andrew “Butch” James Jr. Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at his daughter's home surrounded by his family. He was 72 years old. Andrew James Quaal Jr. was born on June 17, 1949 in Saginaw, MI to the late Andrew James Sr. and Bonnie (Roberts) Quaal. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1967. Andrew served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following the service, Andrew attended Delta College studying Law Enforcement. He then worked for the Saginaw Police Department, retiring in 1998 as a Narcotics Detective. Andrew was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, fishing, riding his Harley and woodworking. Andrew is survived by his son, Ryan (Stefanie) Quaal of Simpsonville, SC; daughter, Lauren (Gabrielle) LaMoria-Quaal of Bay City; grandchildren: McKenzie, Eden and Gabriella Quaal; sisters: Joette (Frank) Doozan, Terri (Brad) Root and Linda Quaal; fiancée, Peggy Golomb; his beloved Maltipoo, Toby and several nieces and nephews. Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Michelle Cudney; and his brother, Thomas Quaal. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Andrew will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603. Chaplain Lori Becker will officiate. Policeman Honors and Military Honors will be held following the funeral service at the funeral home under the auspices of the City of Saginaw Police Department and the United States Army. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
