Leodoro Perez

Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab Center. He was 83 years old. Leodoro Perez was born on February 27, 1937 in Ediburg, Texas to the late Andres and Nicolasa (Flores) Perez. He married Yolanda Fulgencio on November 26, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Leodoro earned his associates from Delta and he Bachelor's degree from Saginaw Valley State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Consumers Energy and retired after 25 years of service. Leodoro was also worked at the Diocese of Saginaw, as a tax preparer and as a CPR instructor. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. As a lay minister he served as a lector and as part of the prison ministry team. Leodoro was especially passionate about the Cursillo movement though which he was able to help other Catholics to grow spiritually. He was even able to travel to Mallorca, Spain to meet the founder and participate in the Cursillo of Cursillos. During his 50 year involvement he served as a lay director and coordinator on a National level. Leodoro loved to travel and was able to explore most of our great nation along with parts of Mexico, Europe and the Holy Land. He enjoyed photography, camping, swimming, reading, and listening to mariachi music. He was considered a master griller and his excellent barbeque will be missed by his family and friends. He will certainly be remembered for always being well dressed and his English style hats. Leodoro is survived by his wife, Yolanda F. "Peggy" Perez; seven children: Julia Kalkman, Linda (Merle) Dech, Rosa (Rosendo) Alaniz, Andres (Trisha) Perez, Nicolas Perez, Jose T. (Deserie) Perez and Raquel (Edward) Gallegos; 12 grandchildren: William, Jason, Natalie, Juan, Carolina, Dominic, Jonah, Eli, Charlotte, Samantha, Michael and Juliet; 11 great grandchildren; and one brother: Raul (Delores) Perez. He was predeceased by one brother: Rey Perez; three sisters: Eva Nieto, Cande (Dan) Garza and Aurora (Jose) Jimenez; and one son-in-law Bill Kalkman. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 20201 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. Sixth St., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris OFM Cap will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military honors will take place under the auspices of the United States Air Force and the VFW 1859. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required, social distancing, and gathering guidelines will be observed.
