Cady, Dr. Donald J. Linwood, Michigan Formerly of Saginaw Dr. Donald J. Cady, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on December 1, 2020. Born in Saginaw, Michigan on April 12, 1924 the son of the late Frederick J. and May (Sanders) Cady. One of five siblings, Don graduated from Saginaw High School in 1941, attended the University of Michigan for eight years earning his undergraduate and his medical degree, graduating in 1947. After serving his internship and residencies, Don practiced in Florida for one year. He served his country in the United States Army for two years before returning to Saginaw and opening his private practice in internal medicine in the mid 50's. He continued his practice for the next 50 years, retiring in 2003. He married Janice Nachtweih in September 28, 1985 at Second Presbyterian Church in Saginaw. She survives him. They made their home at Linwood Beach, overlooking the Saginaw Bay. Don had a long association with St. Mary's Hospital, serving in many capacities in its history to Saginaw. Don had a passion for reading books of all genre. He loved race-sailing and participated in over 30 Bayview Mackinaw races, sailing from Port Huron to Mackinaw Island. He was an avid sports fan, especially the University of Michigan football and baseball teams. He is survived by his wife, Jan; six sons, Donald Jr., Robert, Daniel, Timothy, Andrew, and Patrick; foster son Charles (Hong Soon) Lee; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine (Charles) O'Laughlin of Chicago; brother, Dean (Lois) Cady of Milwaukee and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many friends inside and outside the medical field. Don was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick (Beverly) Cady II; brother, David Cady, and his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Ellen (Blunt) Cady. Don was loved and respected by his family and his community, he returned the love and respect to them two-fold. FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Patrick C. O'Connor will officiate. Committal service to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required, social distancing, and gathering guidelines will be observed. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of their choice. Deisler Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cady family. I will always remember Doc's kindness to me and my boys, Matt and Tim. We sailed with him and against him and he was always a joy to be around. A great mentor for many of us. A wonderful doctor, as well. Rest peacefully Don. We love you.

I will always remember Don's lighthearted personality. We met at the YWCA. I cherished the many conversations about sailing, medicine, fitness, family and life. He was always so interested in MY kids and their lives. Even when he was in the hospital we chatted on the phone he helped me with a recommendation for a doctor.
He told me he was learning Spanish on You Tube..he was always learning!!
He will be missed. I enjoyed our chats so much!!

Jan and Family, so sorry to hear about Dr Don. I had the pleasure of working for Doctor for a few years. He had a love for his practice and his patients were more like friends than patients. As knowledgeable as he was, he had a way of making the staff feel so comfortable, he would come into the office in the morning and say " Good Morning Kid"
[my nickname]. He loved Wednesday's as they were his sailing days with "The Crew"I feel so blessed to have known Doctor Don. Rest In Peace my friend"

My deepest sympathy to the family in the loss of a special physician. I worked with Dr. Cady many years ago at St. Mary's. He was a great teacher for the nurses; an empathetic Dr. to his patients; and a sincere friend to all! He was my dad's physician for many years and was so helpful to him.
