Obituary

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 66 years old. Bruce John Leaman was born on January 14, 1954 in Saginaw to the late Donald J. and Jean Elizabeth (Brown) Leaman. Bruce could relate to nearly anyone and had countless good friends as a result. He is loved for his genuine and selfless nature, his gentleness, his humor and bad puns, his intelligence and gamesmanship, and that beard! Bruce found his true calling when he became a founding member of Major Chords for Minor (MCFM). He was a respected piano teacher as well as a mentor and friend to countless children. MCFM is developing a scholarship in his honor. Bruce is survived by his brother, Jay and Sylvia Leaman of Florida; and sister, Troy Leaman Miller of Washington; nephews and niece: John and Nick Miller, Milo, Marcel, Paloma, and Maximo Leaman. MEMORIALS SERVICE: Family and friends are invited to gather from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at White's Bar, 2609 State St, Saginaw, MI 48602. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Owen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Bruce's love of music and children, please consider a memorial contribution to Major Chords for Minors, where a scholarship fund will be established in Bruce's name. The Deisler Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Leaman family. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at White's Bar or through www.DeislerFuneralHome.com

Bruce and I grew up together on Linda Street. We had a lot of good times together. Some of my best memories of my childhood were spent with Bruce. He was always a fun guy to be around. We both loved the Detroit Tigers and in the summer of 1968 we both followed them and watched them win the World Series. I will miss him very much and my condolences go out to his family. Goodbye my friend and may you rest in peace. Sincerely, Steve Clinkston
