Florence Ellis

Ellis, Florence Joanne Saginaw Township, Michigan Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 83 years old. Florence Joanne Metevia was born on October 9, 1936 in Standish, Michigan to the late Raymond and Florence (Bosley) Metevia. She married the love of her life, Donald E. Ellis on February 14, 1955 in Bay City, Michigan. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2000. She was a faithful member of St. Dominic Parish-St. Stephen Catholic Church. Florence enjoyed gardening, playing cards, swimming, floating in her pool, flowers, reading and playing on her Kindle. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. Florence is survived by her four daughters and two sons: Pam Murphy, Michelle Frederick, Diane (Mike Puglie) Ellis, Steven (Julie) Ellis, Cathy (Raymond) Ellis-Knapp and Michael Ellis; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; and a brother: Virgil (Fran) Metevia. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; son in-law; John Frederick and four siblings. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy for Florence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at St. Dominic Parish-St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate with rite of committal to follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the church on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In keeping with State Mandated Guidelines: masks will be required, social distancing will be observed and limitations on the number in attendance will be enforced.
