Matson, Jean Marie Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years old. Jean Marie Iverson was born on August 1, 1935 to the late Edwin "Ted" and Marie (Tindale) Iverson in Traverse City, Michigan. She attended Traverse City High School, and was the Homecoming Queen in her senior year. Jean furthered her education at Central Michigan University, there she met William F. "Matty" Matson, and they were married August 17, 1957. Together Jean and Matty moved to the Saginaw area in the 1960's and raised their three daughters. She loved to volunteer and actively participate with their school activities. Jean then worked for the Saginaw Twp. Community Schools as a Teacher's Aide for many years. Jean and Matty loved to spend time outdoors, canoeing, camping and spending time up north. Jean is survived by her husband of 63 years, William F. Matson; daughters: Shelley (Steve) Fox, Stacey (Lon) Woock and Valerie (Michael) Morley; grandchildren: Ian Dunscombe, Andrew (Laura) Dunscombe, Drew Woock, Kelly Woock, Beth Morley and Mitch Morley; great-grandchildren: Austin, Hunter and Blaze Dunscombe, Tanner and Raegan Dunscombe; her life-long friend, Betty Pratt VanRiper; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Ooley; and her infant granddaughter. Jean's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to P.J., Pam, Sabrina, Deb, and Serina for the wonderful care provided to both Jean and Matty over the past few years. According to Jean's wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will gather privately to celebrate her life. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Saginaw City Rescue Mission, Amazing Grace Animal Rescue or Covenant VNA Hospice. My dear Matson family,
So many memories of growing up three doors down on Clement Drive. Your house a home to me as well. I can't remember not knowing all of you. My heart is breaking for you at the loss of your mom, wife, grandmother. She will always live in my heart. I used to love her Smokey link sausages for breakfast after a sleep over, the fact that she cut the frozen pizza with kitchen scissors, watching General Hospital, her support of our singing and dancing childhood "careers", putting up with the endless Barbie doll play all over the house. Jean, sorry, I mean Mrs. Matson, (just can't do the first name thing still), will be missed but remembered always by me for all of the wonderful times we shared growing up. My heart goes out to all of you and I pray for comfort and healing for you all. Love and God Bless,

My words cannot fully express the sorrow felt after learning about the passing of Aunt Jean. There will always be loving memories of trips to Saginaw to do our Christmas shopping.
