ALTSCHEFFEL, Della M. Saginaw, Michigan formerly of Midland, MI Passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Shields Comfort Care. She was 93 years old. Della Mae Fischer was born on September 22, 1926 in Saginaw to the late Wilmer and Marguerite (Corey) Fischer. She married the love of her life, Alfred A. Altscheffel on October 26, 1946; he preceded her in death on May 2, 2012. Della retired from T.G&Y Scott's 5&10 at Fort Saginaw Mall. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Midland. Della never complained, and always had a spirit of service. She volunteered to help bake cookies or take on any project that would support her family. She was an avid bowler, camper, traveler and baker. She is survived by her two sons and two daughters: Teresa Matthews and Len Erickson, William (Jackie) Altscheffel, Janice (Gary) Ackler, Steve (Lana) Altscheffel; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jane Cummings and Mary Cornwell; several nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Brian and John; brother and sister-in-law: Ronald and Losia Marks; brothers-in-law: Dick Cornwell and Rex Cummings. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service for Della will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Following Della's wishes cremation will follow the service. In accordance with State mandated regulations, face masks will be required, social distancing will be observed and limits on the number of attendance will be followed. For those that are unable to attend the funeral service it will be available to watch on livestream at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/31449358 . Interment will take place at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, August 24, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service . MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
