Obituary
Schoen, Joan Marie of Saginaw Twp. passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Bickford of Saginaw Township with family by her side. She was 89 years old. Joan was born on January 31, 1931 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret (Osterman) Malott. Joan was united in marriage to Thomas Schoen on October 6, 1951 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Saginaw, Michigan; he preceded her in death on July 14, 1990. Joan graduated from St. Mary School and continued to be very active with her church for most of her life. She enjoyed socializing with her church family and friends. Joan loved bowling and traveling up north with her family. She also enjoyed playing cards and was part of a lady's card club for over 50 years. Joan will be dearly missed. Joan is survived by her loving children; David (Susan) Grunow, Joseph (Sharon) Rohde, Thomas (Rose) Schoen, Gary (Mary) Seibert, William "Bill" (Robin) Schoen and Michele (Glenn) Donell, 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers; Leonard, James, and Chuck Malott, sister; Pat Chelsky and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by sisters; Margaret (Don) Duby and Kate (Ted) Vlasis, two sisters in-law; Sara Malott and Jean Malott. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place Monday, August 24, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave. Saginaw, MI 48607. Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton will officiate. According to State mandated regulations, masks will be required, social distancing will be observed and limitations on numbers gathered will be inplace. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Monday, August 24, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
