Minster, Ruth Marie Saginaw, Michigan Passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Avista Nursing and Rehab. She was 92 years old. Ruth was born October 11, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Edward and Anna (Schwenn) Ruhlig. She was employed by AT&T as a long distance telephone operator, retiring after many years of service. Ruth was a faithful and active member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was an avid gardener. Ruth loved square dancing, clogging, line dancing and round dancing and she enjoyed teaching it to others. Ruth also enjoyed traveling and being a troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America. But, what she really loved most was spending time with her family and her dogs. Surviving are her grandchildren, Tammy Claus "Lyn Land", Heidi Claus, Ashley (Kenneth) O'Brien, and Dustin Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Jourdyn, Lexus, Nathen, Tamryn, Gerald, Alerie, Joseph, and nephew, Jerry Evans. Ruth was preceded in death by her daughters, Debbie Jones, Judy Minster, and Bonnie Schmidt. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7475 E. Holland Road, Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Amazing Grace Animal Rescue, 3365 Freeland Road, Saginaw, MI 48604. I met Ruth about twq years ago, and knew at once we would become real friends. She was a sweet lady. With all her woes and troubles she held her head high. She loved her Lord, and wanted all updates of Peace . She lived two blooks from there. {So near,yet so far for her to go}I have an empty spot in my body now that she is gone, but know the she is much happier. Elaine G. Sims

Yes, Ruth loved and sacrificed regularly for her family as I remember. Her faith was in our Lord Jesus, and she always welcomed me through the years as I was privileged to bring her Communion. Ruth volunteered at Peace at times for fun evenings of square dancing, she was a gifted teacher in that regard. I truly admire her ability to press on in love for her family through the various joys as well as significant trials of life. I grew up in the Minster's neighborhood when they lived on Fairfield in Saginaw. My Mom and Dad and I would sit on the porch and watch and listen to their square dance parties. The neighborhood kids loved to swim in their pool. So many nice memories. Ruth was a special lady!
