Donald Kirby

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on Saturday evening, April 25, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. He was 79 years old. Donald Max Kirby was born July 24, 1940 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Elmer and Mary (Weigl) Kirby. He married Barbara J. Eckstorm on November 18, 1960 in Saginaw at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Donald graduated from Ss. Peter and Paul High School in 1958 and attended Bay City Junior College. He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear and Delphi Steering as a tool and die maker, retiring after 48 years of service. Donald was a member of the James Township Fire Department for many years. He loved going camping and fishing. Donald also enjoyed bowling. But, what he loved most was spending time with his family and all of his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Barbara; children, Mary Ann (Jeff) Rosser, Donald (Kristi) Kirby, and Todd (Kris) Kirby; grandchildren, William (Christina), Brandon (Andrea), Corbin, Tyler, Kaleb, Starr, Sarah (Jeff), and Melissa; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann Kirby; two brothers, William (Theresa) and Raymond Kirby, and many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his daughter Jacqueline Turner; his sister, Margaret; two brothers, Richard and Max. MEMORIAL SERVICE: In keeping with Donald's wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no services planned at this time. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society.
