Elspath Heinz

Heinz, Elspath "Ellie" Joan, age 87, passed away unexpected Thursday evening, April 16, 2020 at Covenant Healthcare - Cooper. Elspath was born August 14, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of Floyd and Mateland (Wright) Wright. Elspath graduated from Arthur Hill High School class of 1950. She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone for 30 years until her retirement in 1991. Elspath was united in marriage to Henry "Fred" Heinz on February 24, 1951 in Saginaw; he preceded her in death on March 23, 2001. Elspath enjoyed shopping, bowling and golf. She also enjoyed horse and dog racing and many trips to Florida to visit family. Elspath helped take care of and raise a few of her grand and great-grandchildren. In her later years she was known in the family as the "professional babysitter". She will be missed dearly. Elspath is survived by her four children, Mark (Mary) Heinz, Jody (Joe) Shimmel, Troy (Lynn) Heinz and Jedd (Darci) Heinz; seven grandchildren, Kristine (Danny) De Leon, Kurt (Veronica) Rodriguez, Paul (Sheryl) Gaertner, Michelle (Justin) Fowler, Jordan, Taylor and Alexis Heinz; six great-grandchildren, Logan Mika, Makenzie Heinz, Tristen Gaertner, Chloe Gaertner, Henry De Leon and Olivia De Leon; brother, Garl (Geri) Wright and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Elspath was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimber Rodriquez; granddaughter, Nichole Mika and a sister, Shelia Coral. FUNERAL: Family is planning a Memorial Service at a later date as soon as the state mandated restrictions are lifted. Private family entombment to take place in Chapel Hill Mausoleum.
