Buckholz, Howard M. "Howie" Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. Howard Maxwell Buckholz was born on September 26, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Roderick and Hazel (Piersall) Buckholz. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1953. Howard then worked as a Machine Repairman for Grey Iron Foundry, retiring in 2000. He married MaryAnn Mertz on June 4, 1955 in Saginaw and together they raised their children in Bridgeport. MaryAnn passed away on March 18, 1999. He married Joyce E. (Harmer) Becker on June 20, 2018; she survives him. Howard enjoyed many fun adventures and wintered in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. He also enjoyed gathering with family and spending time golfing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and bowling. Howard is survived by his wife, Joyce; children: Debbie (Roger) Panko, Deann (Rod) Stewart, Donna McGrandy and Darren (Jennifer) Buckholz; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; step-children: Linda (Jim) Loiacano, Don (Brenda) Becker, Frank Becker and Joanne (Matt) Mazzola; he is also survived by many extended family and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his first wife, MaryAnn; and an infant son, David Buckholz. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Howard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Peace Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association. Howard was a good friend to us. He was Ralph's golf partner for a long time and won a championship together. They both were always teasing each other. Ralph and Howard worked together at the old Grey Iron foundry for years and graduated from Saginaw High School together. It was a shock to hear of his passing. Ralph took it hard cuz a lot of his friends have passed. May God be with you and your family at this time of need and help you cope with your loss.
