Obituary
Passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 15, 2019 with her family by her side. Luella was born August 29, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of Owen and Christina (Melzo) Griffith. She was united in marriage to Abraham Awad on December 28, 1957. One of Luella's biggest accomplishments was after her children were grown, she went back to night school and completed her high school diploma and was her class valedictorian. Luella loved to play bingo, going to Las Vegas to see the lights and her weekly family poker games. But most of all Luella loved and cherished the time spent with her family. She will be dearly missed. Luella is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Abe; her children and their families, Abe (Rhonda) Awad Jr. their children, Austin and Amy and their grandchildren, Rylynn, Whitt, Tiffany and Kiana; Greg (Bonnie) Awad, their children, Kristen, Lyndsay and Brandon and their grandchildren, Joslyn and Mila; Shelly (Carter Clapp) Awad, her child, Katie, her grandchild, Brody, a sister, Linda Drake, two brother in-laws, Joe (Sheila) Awad and Jerry Zedaker and two sister in-laws, Bev Novak and Pat Griffith. Luella was preceded in death by her parents, and 5 siblings, JoAnne Foley, Richard Griffith, Donald Griffith, Lois Wick and Bruce Griffith. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service for Luella will take place Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 7:00 PM from Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Linda Drake will officiate the service. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the funeral home, Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 4:00 PM until the time of service. MEMORIALS: Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider Covenant Hospice.

Our deepest and heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Awad and all of the family for your heart breaking loss .Lulu was a vibrant spirit and has left her mark here on earth. She was very forthcoming to me when I asked her for pictures of Shelly's younger days, to help me with a special 40th birthday tribute..........we send our Prayers and Love to you all..........

So sorry to hear about Lulu. That is what we called our Dear friend in school. We have not heard or seen each other in over 60 years. I left Saginaw when I was 17 got married and have been married to my husband of 62 years and live in Clio Mi. I never forgot you Lu in all the things we did together and the fun we had when we were young. I remember when you married Abe Awad he had the restaurant , after that is when we did not see one another again. Love you. Hope we meet one day again.

So sorry to hear of Lou's passing. My condolences to mr. Awad and the rest of the family. I remember living down the street from her and family and she was always full of smiles and laughter. And her tolerance of the boys playing their band instruments in the basement. I dont know how she did it but she loved it. She was always fun to be around and talk to.
