Frank Leibinger

Leibinger, Frank of Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 12, 2019. He was 87 years old. Frank Joseph Leibinger was born on November 2, 1931 in Saginaw to the late Joseph J. and Lena A. (Schmidt) Leibinger. Frank graduated from SS. Peter and Paul Catholic High School. He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Navy. Frank then returned to Saginaw and worked as a machinist for General Motors for over 30 years. Frank stole the heart of Patricia A. Mikel and they were married on January 28, 1956; she survives him. Together they raised their family and throughout those years Frank enjoyed coaching baseball, football and hockey. He loved to spend time at his cottage in AuGres where he fished and had many building projects. Frank had a strong faith and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He spent many Sunday afternoons watching the Detroit Lions. Frank is survived by his wife, Pat; children: Linda Phillips, Robert (Mindy) Leibinger and Michael (Bridget) Leibinger; grandchildren: Josh Phillips, Terese (Matt) Remelts, Joseph, Adam, and Christopher Leibinger, Evan Leibinger, Sarah (Jacob) Ureche and Katie Leibinger; great-grandchildren: Autumn, Mckenna, Lukas, Jon and William. Frank was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Leibinger; and a brother, James (Shirley) Leibinger. SERVICE: A funeral liturgy for Frank will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St. Saginaw MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate. Rite of committal and Military Honors under the auspices of the United States Navy and American Legion Post #439 will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
