Roger Prather

PRATHER, Roger Andre, Sr. of Saginaw, MI. Passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at his home. He was 67 years old. Roger was born August 18, 1952 in Padaucah, KY to George and Thelma (Rogers) Prather. He married Mary Hernandez in May 2000 in Saginaw, MI. She survives him. Roger worked as a truck driver for Collins Transport for most of his career. When Collins Transport closed, he later drove for various other trucking services until he retired. Roger was a faithful and active member of the Jehovah's Witnesses at the Kingdom Hall in Buena Vista for many years. Roger enjoyed working in the back yard, scrapping and fishing. He could often be found taking cars apart and putting them back together. Roger cared deeply for his family, often showing his love by doing the "little things" for them. He loved his whole family, but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Surviving are his wife, Mary Prather; children, Roger Andre (Dee) Prather, Jr., Ramona Jackson, Sophia Prather and John Medina; several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Thelma Prather; sisters, Shirley Prather, Louise Prather, Linda (Charles) Dyson; brother, Don Prather, and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his father, George Prather, Sr.; brothers, Sam Prather, George Prather, Jr. and Tony Prather. SERVICE: In accordance with Roger's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
