Ditzhazy, Ruth M. of Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Shattuck Manor, surrounded by her family. She was 96 years old. Ruth was born on December 29, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Constant and Alma (Gerard) Sauve. She married the love of her life George F. Ditzhazy, on January 13, 1944, in Detroit, MI; he preceded her in death on January 23, 2017. Ruth worked several years for Hunter Intermediate School District in Detroit. She was a member of the Saginaw Country Club and volunteered several years for SVSU. Ruth enjoyed golfing, tennis, racket ball, playing bridge and traveling. But most of all Ruth was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved cooking for her family and making treats for her grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her. Ruth is survived by her daughters: Donna (James M.) Kupper of Ann Arbor and Dawn Garber of Saginaw; grandchildren: Jeffrey (Stephanie) Kupper, Melissa (Brian) Rapela; Annie Garber, Laura Garber and R.J. Garber; great grandchildren: George, Theodore, and Kilderry Rose Kupper; Melody and Hudson Rapela. Ruth was preceded in death by a brother and sister. FUNERAL: In keeping with Ruth's wishes, there will be no services. A private Mass has taken place with entombment in St. Andrew's Mausoleum. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider Camp Blue Spruce, the only overnight camp of its kind in the nation for children with severe food allergies. Ruth always took a great interest in her family's involvement with food allergy awareness and advocacy when her great granddaughter was diagnosed with multiple anaphylactic allergies. Their mission is to provide those living with food allergies a sense of belonging, trust and community.
