Dawn Stewart

Passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, age 87. Dawn was born the daughter of John and Dorothy (Williamson) Wiesen on August 20, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. Dawn was united in marriage to the late Arthur Stewart; he preceded her in death on March 17, 1996. Dawn attended Harper-Grace School of Nursing; where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. She worked for several years at St. John's Hospital in Detroit and eventually retired from Saginaw County Health Department after 15 years of employment. Dawn was a longtime member of State Street United Methodist Church; where she was very active in the choir. She was very musically inclined; she played the piano, organ and clarinet. Dawn loved being outdoors and working in her yard. She also enjoyed photography and being around horses. Dawn is survived by her 3 children, Richard D. (Susan) Zerba, Robert "Alan" Zerba and Jon D. (Mary) Zerba, five step-children Amy, Gregory, Peggy, Susan and Kate; seven grandchildren, and two very dear lifelong friends, Pete Demos and Gretna (Dale) VanFleet. Besides her husband Arthur, Dawn was preceded in death by a brother, W. Duane Wiesen. Dawn also lost a very dear friend shortly after her own passing, Julie Demos. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 1:00 PM from the Horizons Conference Center, 6200 State Street, Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Monique French will officiate. Inurnment has taken place in St. Andrew Cemetery. MEMORIALS: In Lieu of flowers, those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider Commission on Aging (Meals on Wheels Program) or Covenant Hospice.
