Ernest Fournier

Fournier, Ernest A. (Big Ern) Saginaw, Michigan Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper, surrounded by his loving family. He was 91-years old. Ernest Aloysious Fournier Jr. was born on March 24, 1928 in Flint, Michigan to the late Ernest A. Sr. and Leona (Levasseur) Fournier. He married Joyce J. Haddix on October 30, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, MI. They shared 70 loving years together. He was a faithful member of The Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption. Ernie was a sales manager for Archway Cookies for 40 years. Ernie also served his community by participating on the Catholic Federal Credit Union Board, St. Mary's Athletics Board and volunteered at the monthly St. Mary's neighborhood breakfast. Ernie loved to play cards with his family and they would affectionately call him "Lucky". Ernie is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joyce J. Fournier; children: Steve (Susan) Fournier, Mike (Cheryl) Fournier, Cindy Wedding, Kim Fournier and Marcia (Paul) Kleinebreil; nine grandchildren, Chad (Rachel) Fournier, Kimberly (Whit) Magro, Julie (Jeremy) Coiner, Dixie (Anthony) Schexnaildre, Kristi Wedding, Frederick II (Angela) Wedding, Matthew (Sarah) Kleinebreil, Timothy (Anna) Kleinebreil and Kim Fournier Jr.; 15 great grandchildren, Ella, Izzy, Eli, Mya, Shaunie (Nate), Baylie, Ariana, Pablo, Freddy III, Addison, Sophia, Ava, Aloysia, Edison and Jolie; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ernie was preceded in death by a son, Mark Fournier; grandson, Brandon Fournier, son-in-law, Fred Wedding; and a great grandson, James Wedding. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy for Ernie will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave., Saginaw MI 48607. Rev. Fr. Thomas J. McNamara will officiate. In keeping with Ernest's wishes, cremation will follow the funeral Mass. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Vigil service will be prayed at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. lead by Sr. Yvonne Mary Loucks, RSM. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
