Wodtke, Ruth June, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Wellspring Lutheran Services Senior Living Campus - Memory Support. She was 98 years old. Ruth June Eckert was born on June 1, 1920 in Flint, Michigan to the late Rudolph and Selma (Beier) Eckert. Ruth met the love of her life, Carlton F. Wodtke and married him on January 10, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2015. She was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church for many years. Ruth was employed as a census taker and as the Saginaw Township Clerk from 1970-1980. She enjoyed playing the piano. Ruth also enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. But, what she loved most of all was being with her family. Surviving are her son, Garth Paul Wodtke and his partner, Marlene Planasch of New Berlin, WI; niece, Lynn (Wereley) Lawrukovich; nephew-in-law, Mike Lawrukovich; cousin, Barbara and Thomas Kochendorfer; nephew, Rick Eckert; dear friends, Ron and Nancy Salvner and many additional friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rudy Eckert; sister-in-law, Betty Jane Wereley and stepfather, Fred Conrad. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State). Rev. Roger Stauffer will officiate. Private burial will follow at Richland Township Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at Deisler Funeral Home 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State), on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Peace Lutheran Church. Ruth, when I heard of your passing I could only remember your story about you and Carlton falling in love on the school playground at age five and it made me smile. I bet Carlton was waiting with open arms with God at his side to welcome you home. May you two dance on every cloud in Heaven!
