Yvonne M. (Petre) Baumann, Saginaw, MI. Born, November 26, 1934. Passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 84 years. Although Yvonne lived in Waukegan, IL, San Diego and Long Beach. CA during her husband, George's Navy service, then in 1977 transferred to Danville, IL, living in Catlin, IL, Saginaw, MI was always home. She was the daughter of the late Chester L. Petre and Marcelyn E. (Zehnder) Petre. She attended Saginaw schools and graduated from Arthur Hill H.S. with the class of 1952. Her ensuing years/days were filled with golf and bowling with girlfriends until one weekend when her covey of quail ascended on Ramon's Drive-in, where George Baumann and Norman Adsit were on a September weekend from U of M...on a similar mission. Sally, engaged to George's SHS best friend, Walt, was in the group of girls and introduced George around. After collecting a couple phone numbers, Yvonne, who properly filled out a bright yellow, short sleeve pull-over sweater said "I do not know him" and did not participate. In a morning call to Sally, George got Yvonne's number; and in short order they went on a bowling date, which cost George a steak sandwich at Tony's. This was the introduction to a relationship which resulted in our wedding on February 12, 1955. Children from this union were; Bruce William, Bonnie Sue (Dave) Skornia, and Brent George Baumann (deceased). Bonnie and Dave added, Adam (Emma) Skornia with Lilian and Owen, Caitlyn (Conner) Schultz and Eric. Brent (deceased) provided Dustin (Rachael) Sinkes with Jaden Sinkes to the mix. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Yvonne will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. from Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 2525 Hemmeter Rd with Rev. Rob Schmidt to officiate. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd, (off State) on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Friday morning, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donations to Visiting Nurses Association, Our Saviour Lutheran Church or Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dear George, Bonnie, Dave, Bruce, Adam, Eric and Caitlyn,
We are so sorry to hear about Yvonne's passing. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We pray that you all find comfort in your many wonderful memories of and with your dear, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother! She was a wonderful lady and has left such a wonderful legacy of love, in her dear family and friends.
What we will remember most about Yvonne, is her genuine happiness in sharing her wonderful photos with us. The one of Henderson Lake at sunset is displayed at the lake house as well as Angela and Amandas homes. I made them copies! Her photos of the girls, and the building or our new lake house are also in our photo books, we have made over the years. We also enjoyed her artistry in her paintings that were displayed in their lake house. Her love of people and sharing is something we hold dear to our hearts. We will miss her and her sweet smile dearly.
When we think of Yvonne we think of our greatest second commandment... Love your neighbor as yourself. We have always felt this love when in her presense. I have many fond memories of Yvonne. She was such a high-spirited, loving, giving lady, whom I will always be greatful to. She poured so much of herself into my life and the lives of my boys. She taught me how to sew, cook, and garden. She was a beautiful woman who was good at making people laugh. She made sure her children and grandchildren knew who Jesus was, and I am honored to have been a part of her life for several years. Happy homecoming.

As her neighbor I will always remember when we were young walking in her home and hearing the pressure cooker on the stove. She was always a gracious lady, and a great neighbor. She will be missed.

Marty and I first met Yvonne and George when we had the good fortune of buying our lake home right next door to their wonderful daughter Bonnie and Son in law Dave. One of the best decisions of our lives. We love them all and are loved by them as if we were family. Heck we are family. Yvonne always included us. She was always in a good/silly mood. We will miss her. RIP dear sweet Yvonne.
