Obituary
Kartowsky, Robert Emil age 89, passed away early Monday morning, January 21, 2019 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Robert was born November 19, 1929 in Inkster, MI the son of John and Gertrude (Newbert) Kartowsky. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Robert was united in marriage to the former Teresa Herm on December 29, 1979; she preceded him in death on April 12, 2011. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, coin collecting and especially photography. Robert is survived by his children; Dennis Teplinski of AR, Patricia and her husband Jeffery Reynolds of Saginaw, five grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; step-children: Michael, Patrick and Thomas Sullivan and Susan Bell. Besides his wife Teresa, Robert was preceded in death by a great-grandchild; Kaylynn Reynolds and a step-son; Timothy Sullivan. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Robert will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM from Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Marilyn Robinson to officiate the service. Final committal services will conclude at Oakwood Mausoleum. VISITATION: Family and friends may gather at Deisler Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 1:00-6:00pm and again Thursday, from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Dare I say, Bob did both! Not a rod, in the typical biblical sense, rather in that of "fishers of fish" ... We may chuckle at the play on words, yet Bob was a gentle man who, in fact, brought out the fisherman in those who were privileged to know him.
His kindness, gentle spirit was not only reflected in his love of fishing moreover, in the care and love he lived. Bob and my mother, Teresa, shared 31 years of marriage. It was a joy to see them flourish in their relationship, their many shared interests, talents including traveling and photography.
Bob's tender care of my Mom was enduring through many years of joy and eventual illness. Their relationship stands as a living testament to the loyal, enduring love they shared, moreover to the man himself (though he would never say it), and, indeed, to the grace and mercy of our Lord.
I am saddened by his suffering, by our loss, though encouraged in faith of his new life with the Lord.
