Rogelio Guerra

Passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 surrounded by family. Age 87 years. Rogelio was born April 2, 1931 in Atengo, Jalisco, Mexico to the late Consuelo Guerra. From there, he grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and eventually settled in Saginaw, MI at the age of 26. He married Justina Hernandez on September 20, 1958 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2009. He loved going to the casino, watching wrestling, Tigers baseball, and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his children: Rogelio Guerra Jr., Maria (Gilbert) Montalvo, Juan Guerra, and Ramon Cardenas. One brother: Conrado Guerra. Five sister in laws: Florence Sandoval, Dr. Rose Hernandez, Mary Carmona, Irene Lowing, Delores Ornelas, and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind 27 grandchildren and 20+ great grandchildren. Rogelio was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Milagrito Guerra, a brother Juan Manuel Guerra, and special brother in laws: Margarito Hernandez, Carlos Ornelas, Cesario Hernandez. FUNERAL: Rogelio's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. Sixth Ave. Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil honoring Rogelio will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Rogelio will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
