Obituary
Passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw. He was 98 years old. Harold James Geistman was born on January 23, 1920 in Saginaw to the late Louis and Cordulia (Bedore) Geistman. Harold proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Army. He married Ann Becker and she preceded him in death on April 29, 1993. He then married Jean M. Ehlert on October 29, 2004, and she preceded him in death on November 13, 2016. He was a member of American Legion Post #439. Harold was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed playing softball and bowling. Harold's great joy was found spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Judith Dittmar and Harold Jr. (Ann) Geistman; grandchildren: Robert (Lina) Dittmar, Bradley (Amy) Dittmar, Francisca (Robert) Zehnder, Elena (Matthew) Woods; great grandchildren: Lulu Xu, Zoe, Olivia and Drake Dittmar, Jackson and Caroline Zehnder; many nieces and nephews and his good friend, Tom Cary. Harold was preceded in death by his sisters. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Harold will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) Military honors under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post #439 will immediately follow the funeral service. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Harold will be dearly missed. He always stopped in to see how I was doing and tell me what was new on the lot. He always stuck his head in and said I just wanted to say hi I know your busy.... well 2 hours later and many stories about his family or his experience serving our country. Of course Harold was a great athlete and had many articles in the papers about him. He shared his scrap book with some of the articles about him and his teams that he played on. My condolences to his family and friends. Harold was a very special guy. He will be missed.
