Obituary
Palmateer, David E. Saginaw Twp., Michigan, formerly of Bay City, Michigan David, age 76, passed away peacefully from his earthly home and entered Heaven to be with Jesus on December 20, 2018 while he was surrounded by his loving and dedicated family. David Eldon Palmateer was born on July 3, 1942 in Port Huron, Michigan to the late Eldon B. and Ora J. (Perry) Palmateer. He proudly served his country with the United States Air Force from 1962-1965. Following his service, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. Dave loved teaching and worked with the Bay City Public School System from 1968-2003, spending the majority of his career at Bay City Western Middle School. Throughout these years he taught social studies, science, math, trained Leader Dogs and watched mindfully over the lunch detail. While working he also earned his Master's Degree from Saginaw Valley State University. Following his retirement he enjoyed golfing and his membership at Spring Valley Golf Course. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carlene J. (Rosenberger) Palmateer, whom he married on December 20, 1969; his children: Josh (Mandy) Palmateer and Mandy (Eric) DeMott. Dave dearly loved his granddaughters, Cassidy Palmateer, Sophie and Chloe DeMott and especially loved watching them play sports. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bernie Palmateer. FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Immanuel Bible Church, 5433 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, MI 48604. Rev. Alex Boese will officiate. Military honors under the auspices of the United States Air Force will immediately follow the funeral at the church. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Bay City. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Immanuel Bible Church Building Fund or Leader Dogs for the Blind, Rochester, MI. Carlene, Josh and Mandy.....in my memory will always be Friday nights in the early 1980's....what wonderful memories Dave and you guys gave me. Dukes of Hazard in front of the old tv where we as kids were the remote and Dave sitting in his favorite recliner, homemade pizza and cheesecake every Friday night. Those were the best days of my life and memories seared into my mind forever or at least till I get dementia! We had so much fun in the basement reliving Dukes of Hazard Josh as Luke, me as Daisy and who did Mandy and Jenn play? Your parents coming down to check on us as we rode big wheels round and round the basement in recreated chase scenes. In the 1980's as a little kid Dave scared me with his gruff voice and stern looks at times but as we grew older his voice was much softer. Looking back I think I was just in awe of him and respected him as he seemed bigger than life to me back then. Your family gave me security and happy memories as a young kid and it's those experiences that later molded me as a parent creating similar experiences for my kids that your family blessed me with. Thank you. Love you and miss you. Ask Carlene to pull out the super old 1970's photos of Josh, Mandy and I playing at your first home. At least one of us was bare bottom picking toys out of a huge toy thing bare bottoms hanging over it and your parents looking on laughing.

Prayers to all the family. I enjoyed many years teaching with Dave. My first years I had no classroom of my own and he generously volunteered to share his. He was also a wonderful mentor with years of experience and wisdom- a greatly patient man. God Bless.
